Scripture for October 25, 2026

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
Philippians 2:3 · ESV

Paul calls believers to set aside rivalry and pride and to value others. Humility follows Christ’s example: using our gifts to serve instead of seeking recognition.

Supporting Scripture

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:45 · ESV

Jesus shows us the heart of a servant. His service reaches its fullest expression in giving His life to save us.

Supporting Scripture

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.”
James 4:10 · ESV

Humility begins before God. We can trust Him with our place and reputation instead of constantly promoting ourselves.

Put the Word into practice

Be humble.

Make room for others. Follow the example of Christ.

Question

Can you help someone succeed without needing the credit?

Context

New Testament · Paul writes to the believers in Philippi. In Philippians 2:1–11, he calls them to unity and care for one another, then points to the humility and obedience of Jesus Christ. Verse 3 addresses the rivalry and pride that can divide a community.

Meaning

Humility means you do not have to make every moment about yourself. You can listen, receive correction, celebrate someone else’s success, and use your gifts to serve.

Paul is not telling you to pretend you have no gifts or value. He is calling you to treat other people’s needs as worthy of your attention. Christ is our example: His greatness was expressed through willing service and obedience to the Father.

Three ways to live it.

At school

Listen first.

Let a classmate finish speaking. Ask a question before insisting that your answer is best. When you are corrected, look for what you can learn.

At home

Serve willingly.

Notice a task that would help your family. Put something away, help a sibling, or carry a burden before someone has to ask.

With others

Share the credit.

Celebrate another person’s effort. Thank the people who helped you. Choose to encourage someone even when no one is watching.

Discuss together: What is the difference between being humble and pretending you are not good at anything? Give an example of using a strength to serve someone else.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for serving us and giving Your life for us. Help us recognize pride, receive correction, and notice the needs of others. Teach us to use our gifts with gratitude and to serve with a willing heart. May our words and actions bring glory to You. Amen.

Today

Choose one person to encourage or help today. Do it without asking for recognition. Tonight, reflect: What did you notice when you made room for someone else?
